Combining traditional sounds from their native land and pop melodies found in modern music, Music Yared are creating a Melbourne-Ethiopia hybrid. Singing about love, distance, separation and culture, these songs share easily relatable messages both in feel and in lyricism. The third single to emerge from the band's forthcoming self-titled EP, 'Ruhus Gama' is a joyful and impassioned piece of music laced with percussion, bowed instruments and melodic, head-nodding electric guitar. Music Yared give their own spin on their sound: “Music is always developing. Non-stop. It must change with the times. For some folk songs, we develop our own lyrics, change the rhythm, and create new beats. Music Yared likes to mix it up.
